Mitchell, South Dakota - Wild Pheasant Hunting

Mike Kuchera's pheasant hunts are based out of Mitchell, South Dakota, the heart of South Dakota's world-famous pheasant hunting country. It is located a little over one hour's drive west of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. You can fly commercially into Sioux Falls or directly into Mitchell with any private plane. [ See location map ]

Mitchell, located along Interstate 90, is a thriving community of 14,000 friendly faces and is most known for being home of the World's Only Corn Palace. Mitchell is also known for other tourist attractions as well, and for a large Cabela's retail store. Cabela's, known as the World's Foremost Outfitter for hunting and fishing apparel, has an 85,000 square foot retail showroom in Mitchell. Cabela's has been a great hit with our hunters. They show up and immediately want to go to Cabela's.

Mike Kuchera’s South Dakota Guide Service pheasant hunting packages provide you with deluxe accommodations at the Mitchell Hampton Inn, located just off Interstate Exit 332 across from Cabela’s.  Our package includes a night’s lodging for each day of hunting.  For example, if you are hunting a three day hunt which is scheduled for a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, your lodging included in the package is for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.  Each hunter has his/her own private room which has a 37" flat screen tv, wireless internet service, microwave and refrigerator, coffee pot, iron and ironing board, and a deluxe Serta cloud nine bed with a down comforter and many pillows. The hotel has an exercise room, large hot tub with a nice indoor pool, a large lobby with a fireplace, and a beautiful breakfast area. Mike also offers a hospitality room where the hunters can gather together after each day's hunt.

Valentine, Nebraska - Prairie Chicken/Sharp-tail Grouse Hunts

Our prairie chicken/sharp-tail grouse hunts are based out of Valentine, Nebraska, which is located in northwestern Nebraska, 30 miles from the South Dakota border. Our hunters fly into Rapid City, South Dakota (RAP) and drive to Valentine, which is 170 miles southeast of Rapid City. Valentine has an airport which will accommodate private planes.

Our two-day sharp-tail grouse prairie chicken hunt includes two nights lodging at Valentine's Niobrara Lodge (www.valentinesniobraralodge.com). This hotel is a newer property located on the southeast corner of town. Each private room will include a king size bed or 2 queen size beds, 25" TV with free HBO, in-room coffee, microwave and refrigerator, hairdryer, two-line phones with data port, voice mail system, high speed wireless internet access, and digital clock radio. They also have a laundry facility and a safe. Our hunts in Valentine include a breakfast at the hotel, a great field lunch buffet, and a mouth-watering steak or walleye supper at a local steakhouse.
